Just after Nikki falls asleep in Julie's arms, she is startled awake again by a hand terminal chime. A notification on Julie's terminal informs both of them that the ship carrying the protomolecule left early, and that she would need to leave Ceres immediately or there would be no chance of intercepting it before it reached its destination.
